Can I got a nonrefundable deposited back if no contract was signed?
I scheduled a free photography session with this girl. She said she needed $200 in advance that will go towards a package I'll buy when the photos are done. I decided the next day after looking how expensive her packages are that I couldn't afford it. I never signed the contract she sent me but she will not give me the $200 back. Can I get this money back? Am I in the wrong or is she?

Employee Separation Agreement
California
Pros & cons of employee separation agreements?
I am a small business owner and I am considering offering an Employee Separation Agreement to an employee who is leaving the company. I want to understand the pros and cons of this type of agreement so that I can make the best decision for my business.
Gagandeep K.
There are several reasons for using an employee separation agreement - it can be used to protect confidential information and IP, obtain general liability waiver for certain legal claims (e.g., wrongful termination), offer an employee certain benefits and severance pay, and include additional provisions (e.g., non-disparagement clause so the employee cannot spread negative information about the company, return of company equipment, etc.). Just as an employer is not legally required to offer a severance agreement, an employee is not required by law to sign a severance agreement. However, an employee may be more likely to sign a reasonable, balanced severance agreement. Are there terms and conditions templates?
I am starting a business and I need to create a set of terms and conditions for my customers. I have been researching online, but I am overwhelmed with the amount of information available and I am not sure what the best approach is. I am hoping to find a template to help guide me in the right direction.
Diane D.
Yes. However, a template is a general, non-specific document. Specifying it to your needs can be tricky. You should have a lawyer do it for you because they are trained to limit any liabilities and risks your company may have. It's better to spend the money upfront, then try to get out of a mess letter, which will be much more expensive, especially if you get sued.

Cost to review employment contracts?
My sister looked them over briefly (she's a lawyer in AZ) and said she had some concerns on the one document, but to find an employment lawyer in NJ that specializes in contracts.
Matthew S.
The cost to review will depend on document size. Five pages or less $150. 5 to 10 pages $300. More than 10 pages $30 per page. All reviews come with a memorandum discussing compensation, terms of employment and unusual items, (Things like non compete provisions, non disclosure agreements, etc. )

View Trustpilot ReviewContracts Counsel was incredibly helpful and easy to use. I submitted a project for a lawyer's help within a day I had received over 6 proposals from qualified lawyers. I submitted a bid that works best for my business and we went forward with the project.
View Trustpilot ReviewI never knew how difficult it was to obtain representation or a lawyer, and ContractsCounsel was EXACTLY the type of service I was hoping for when I was in a pinch. Working with their service was efficient, effective and made me feel in control. Thank you so much and should I ever need attorney services down the road, I'll certainly be a repeat customer.
View Trustpilot ReviewI got 5 bids within 24h of posting my project. I choose the person who provided the most detailed and relevant intro letter, highlighting their experience relevant to my project.
