Jason P.
Jason is a self-starting, go-getting lawyer who takes a pragmatic approach to helping his clients. He co-founded Fortify Law because he was not satisfied with the traditional approach to providing legal services. He firmly believes that legal costs should be predictable, transparent and value-driven. Jason’s entrepreneurial mindset enables him to better understand his clients’ needs. His first taste of entrepreneurship came from an early age when he helped manage his family’s small free range cattle farm. Every morning, before school, he would deliver hay to a herd of 50 hungry cows. In addition, he was responsible for sweeping "the shop" at his parent's 40-employee HVAC business. Before becoming a lawyer, he clerked at the Lewis & Clark Small Business Legal Clinic where he handled a diverse range of legal issues including establishing new businesses, registering trademarks, and drafting contracts. He also spent time working with the in-house team at adidas® where, among other things, he reviewed and negotiated complex agreements and created training materials for employees. He also previously worked with Meriwether Group, a Portland-based business consulting firm focused on accelerating the growth of disruptive consumer brands and facilitating founder exits. These experiences have enabled Jason to not only understand the unique legal hurdles that can threaten a business, but also help position them for growth. Jason's practice focuses on Business and Intellectual Property Law, including: -Reviewing and negotiating contracts -Resolving internal corporate disputes -Creating employment and HR policies -Registering and protecting intellectual property -Forming new businesses and subsidiaries -Facilitating Business mergers, acquisitions, and exit strategies -Conducting international business transactions In his free time, Jason is an adventure junkie and gear-head. My main focus is estate planning and business transactions, but I have had many practice areas throughout my career, including criminal defense and prosecution, civil litigation from neighborhood squabbles to corporate contentions. I have also worked in bankruptcy, family law, collections, employment law, and personal injury. I stand ready to assist in any area to which I feel I can be of service, but will not try to fake it if I do not know the area of law I am being asked to serve in.

Arbitration Agreement
Oregon
Does the documents and photos I have enough to go to Arbitration
Contractor didn't do all the jobs he was hired to do and what he did do is unacceptable. For example, the Trex deck he built was improperly installed according to the Trex company and another Contractor. It will need to removed and replaced with the proper material/tools and measurements. Currently it is unsafe.
Donya G.
As an Arbitrator and someone who helps clients during their arbitration, I have learned that your evidence is critical to the success or failure of your case. So it is important to have as much evidence as possible and to notarize things you believe the other side would contest as not being real, true or authentic. If you need further assistance, you can contact me directly through contracts counsel. Donya Gordon

Demand Letter For Payment
Georgia
I am owed money for office work I did for a business owner that agreed to pay me for my hours, but hasn’t. I have sent a certified letter demanding my owed wages and the owner won’t respond to messages or anything….what should I do?
I was hired as a secretary for a small landscaping and grading company about a year and a half ago. The owner paid me for my hours I worked when I first started, but as a few months past, he fell behind on paying me and told me that he was going to pay me. After a few weeks I had to stop going there because he kept lying telling me he would pay me, but never did. I sent txt msgs and have proof of my wages owed and have sent a certified letter of demand but have not got a response. What are my next steps to file a lien or what to do?
Sunnita B.
Hello if you have sent a letter of demand the next step would be to file a small claims suit. However, depending on how much you are owed the suit may not be beneficial. Also, in order to recoup the money you have to go through litigation and win, then you have to figure out ways to get the money you are owed because the courts do not enforce money judgments.

Settlement Agreement
New Jersey
How to I get paid from this settlement without having to spend thousands on an attorney
Hello. Through legal help, I have a signed agreement with the other side to pay me $6500 in the settlement, after the other side did not deliver the product i signed on or. Before the attorneys got involved, I wrote a bad review about the 'others sides' business and posted it on the USREVIEW website. In the settlement agreement, i agreed to delete that post (review) however, i cannot. The 'other side' has the ability to have the review deleted, but he refuses to do so, using a stalling tactic not to pay me the settlement. The other side is in the UK. I have already wasted a lot of money on a lawyer from the U.S, he did not help much. I am now working with a lawyer in the UK, however, she is not sure that i will collect, even if we go to trial and win. Do i give up on this settlement, or is there another way to collect on the settlement without having to waste thousands of dollars?
Donya G.
Hello, It depends. Is your settlement court approved? Did you go to court and the court approved it or was it drafted by attorneys only? If it is not court approved, you can seek to have it approved by the court, however, you would need to be able to serve the person who is in the UK. Do they have a US address? will their lawyer accept service? Do they have property in the US? If yes, then you can sue in small claims court in NJ but only for $3,000.00, which is the limit but it is a process you can do by yourself with guidance. Otherwise if you want to sue for the full $6,500.00 your case should be filed in the regular Special Civil Part. Does the party have assets here in the US? you might want to hire an investigator (cheaper than an attorney) to locate any assets. If they do, then with your approved court settlement, you can attach the property or file a lien to get your money back. If you need further assistance, you can contact me on the website for assistance with my services. All the best Donya Gordon
