Frequently Asked Questions
How many proposals should I expect to receive?
ContractsCounsel typically delivers 3 to 4 proposals for each project posting. Upgraded postings (Premium or Urgent) can expect to receive 50% to 75% more bids.
Will I be notified when I receive a new proposal?
ContractsCounsel will send you an email each time a new proposal has been added to your bid page.
Why am I not receiving any bids?
Projects that lack information typically will not receive bids. Without complete information, a lawyer will not feel comfortable bidding since they do not fully understand the scope of work.
Highly complex projects may also be harder for lawyers to bid on a flat fee basis, since it may be difficult to assess the amount of work that will be necessary.
If you are not receiving bids, you can try adding more information to your description (follow our guide to creating a good posting) or you can consider reposting your project as an hourly job rather than a flat fee one.
How do I pay for services?
ContractsCounsel collect payment through payment cards over the platform. You can add your payment method after clicking ‘Hire Now’ or on your user profile.
Are there any hidden fees?
All proposals presented to our users are all inclusive of all lawyer fees. Upon payment, ContractsCounsel charges a service fee to cover payment processing and dispute resolution costs, which will be clearly outlined before you confirm your initial payment. There are no other hidden fees that will be charged.
Who are the lawyers on ContractsCounsel?
ContractCounsel's lawyer audience is comprised of solo practitioners or small law firm lawyers from around the world. All lawyers that register to work on our platform go through vetting to make sure we keep the quality of our lawyers high.
What is the vetting process?
ContractsCounsel vets all lawyers that apply to join our platform. First, we review and validate all information provided by the lawyer which includes their state license and confirmation they are in good standing. We also validate information on social and other professional profiles. Second, we set up a video interview with each lawyer to discuss their practice and our service. Roughly 50% of lawyers who complete their profiles on the platform are added to our live audience.
What do I look for when reviewing my bids?
When reviewing your bid page, review the ‘Relevant Experience’ field, ‘Included in Fee’ field, and the industries and document types your lawyer routinely works with that can be found on their profile. The lawyers’ profiles will also indicate how many projects they have taken on the platform and include reviews from their previous clients. These are good information points to reference when finding a lawyer that best fits your project.
How much does the service cost?
There are no set fees for services in our platform. We are an open market and lawyers set their own rates when providing proposals.
How are ContractCounsel's rates so much lower than law firms?
Lawyers on ContractsCounsel's platform do not have law firm overhead, which allows them to provide the best rates in the industry.
Can I speak to someone before hiring a lawyer?
Yes. Our team is ready to speak to you if you have any questions about the platform. Please see contact information above and get in touch!
You can also contact lawyers that have placed a bid on your project and make any questions you find relevant before deciding to hire someone.
If I hire a lawyer, can I work with them again?
Yes. A lawyer you hire will be added to the 'My Team' tab so that you can easily find and hire them for projects in the future.
