How does SB507 not protect us from just getting our schooling where we wish to receive it because there are plenty of programs where I’m at but none are approved by this council which dictates my ability to legally practice. Hello! I’m so sorry to hear about this! How possible is it for you to complete the hours remotely? Do any schools allow this even your old school? Because of the late hour, I may have to get back to you tomorrow morning, but I’m right here.

That’s what I was hoping you could help me figure out I have no clue if they would even allow it! I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on remote or private school just to have them deny my application

Got it! Is your enrollment still open at that other school?

Ok got it - I'm so sorry about this situation! I want to address your situation with a detailed response, so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask because this law stuff can get complicated. First, reach out to CAMTC again and ask if there’s ANY way to transfer your existing 200 hours to another approved program. Since you already have a medical background, there might be some flexibility, especially if you can complete additional coursework remotely. Some schools might let you take the remaining hours online or in a hybrid format. If CAMTC doesn’t budge, ask them specifically why your previous hours don’t count and if there's an appeal process. I found their number at 916-669-5336. Also, you can look into whether your previous school will let you re-enroll, even temporarily, to finish your hours. If you can’t physically return, ask if there’s any way to complete the rest remotely, through an externship, or at an affiliated program. You don’t want to spend a ton of money on a private program just to have your application rejected again, so getting clear confirmation from CAMTC first is key. Don't ignore the fact that your medical pedigree matters. Your background in nursing and medicine could open doors in wellness coaching, bodywork that doesn’t require certification, or even medical massage under the supervision of a licensed professional. That way, you’re still earning while navigating this mess.
