I am an experienced in house counsel and have worked in the pharmaceutical, consumer goods and restaurant industry. I have experience with a variety of agreements, below is a non-exhaustive list of types of agreements I can help with: Supply Agreements Distribution Agreements Manufacture Agreements Service Agreements Employment Agreements Consulting Agreements Commercial and residential lease agreements Non-compete Agreements Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreements Demand Letters Termination notice Notice of breach of contract My experience as in house counsel has exposed me to a wide variety of commercial matters for which I can provide consulting and assistance on. I have advised US, Canadian and International entities on cross-functional matters and have guided them when they are in different countries and jurisdictions as their counterparties. I can provide assistance early on in a business discussion to help guide you and make sure you ask the right questions even before the commercial agreement needs to be negotiated, but if you are ready to put a contract in place I can most definitely help with that too.

You don't necessarily need a POA to move him to another state if he is agreeing to move. But at some point you'll need a POA (if he has the capacity to sign one) or to become his guardian.

Trying to become a poa
My uncle needs a power of attorney
Holly T.
A POA is best done through an attorney to ensure the verifying/interested parties are proper, the agreement includes what the principal wants, the principal is competent in case of a challenge and it's filed properly if necessary, for example if it will be used to transfer property. All persons should have a POA, HCPOA, Advanced Directives and Will. You can also pull the POA form out of the general statutes of NC. The form is included in the law.

Must I sign a family settlement release for my fathers estate in PA in order for the executor to distribute monies?
My fathers exectutor is ready to finalize the estate bank account and I received a "release" letter, must I sign it before money is distributed? (PA)
Ryan W.
In Pennsylvania, probate estates are wrapped up after the executor provides the beneficiaries with an accounting. The purpose is for the beneficiaries to review what the executor did during the administration of the estate and have the opportunity to voice any objections he or she may have. The release that you received is fairly standard in the estate administration process. You are not required to sign the document. The estate can also be finalized by requesting an order of distribution from a judge. If you do not happen to take issue with anything the executor did, signing the release agreement will likely be more efficient.

Quitclaim Deed
North Carolina
Taxes related to quitclaim deed?
I recently inherited a property from a family member. I was given a quitclaim deed transferring the title from them to me. I am trying to understand my tax liabilities related to this transfer of ownership. I am not sure if there are tax implications that I need to be aware of and I was hoping to get advice from a lawyer on how to proceed.
N'kia N.
A person who inherits property might be subject to taxes. This includes when the person receives a quitclaim deed for the property. However, the person's tax liabilities will ultimately depend in part on the location of the property itself. For legal guidance on the tax implications of inheriting North Carolina property, you might consider consulting with a knowledgeable North Carolina estate and tax planning attorney. Good luck!

Can I create an estate plan without the help of a lawyer?
I am in my mid-fifties and have recently been diagnosed with a terminal illness. I have a large estate that I would like to be distributed to my family and friends when I pass away. I have done some research and understand the importance of having an estate plan, but I am not sure if I am able to create one without the help of a lawyer. I am looking for more information that will help me make the best decision for my family and myself.
Philip M.
You can certainly go ahead and fill out simple forms to complete some easy estate planning documents like wills, but for more complicated documents like a trust (which is required if you want to avoid probate) it can get a little trickier. Further, anyone can fill in the blanks, but an experienced attorney will be able to explain what the document does and how it meets your wishes best. Hope this helps.
