I am an experienced in house counsel and have worked in the pharmaceutical, consumer goods and restaurant industry. I have experience with a variety of agreements, below is a non-exhaustive list of types of agreements I can help with: Supply Agreements Distribution Agreements Manufacture Agreements Service Agreements Employment Agreements Consulting Agreements Commercial and residential lease agreements Non-compete Agreements Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreements Demand Letters Termination notice Notice of breach of contract My experience as in house counsel has exposed me to a wide variety of commercial matters for which I can provide consulting and assistance on. I have advised US, Canadian and International entities on cross-functional matters and have guided them when they are in different countries and jurisdictions as their counterparties. I can provide assistance early on in a business discussion to help guide you and make sure you ask the right questions even before the commercial agreement needs to be negotiated, but if you are ready to put a contract in place I can most definitely help with that too.

Can a trust be contested after the death of the person who created it?
Can a trust be contested after the death of the person who created it? I recently discovered that my late grandmother had created a trust before her passing, and I am concerned about its validity and the distribution of assets. There are certain family members who were excluded from the trust, and I suspect they may try to contest it now that my grandmother is no longer alive. I want to understand my rights and options in case a dispute arises regarding the trust.
Lori B.
You will need to review the Trust Agreement carefully. A Trust usually cannot be contested after the grantor dies. If the trust agreement was drafted correctly, it appoints a successor trustee to take over the trust and the trust assets. In other words, the trust continues to operate.

How often should I review and update my will?
I am asking this question because I want to ensure that my will is up-to-date and reflects any changes in my life circumstances, such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, or changes in my financial situation. I am also interested in understanding how frequently I should review and update my will to ensure that my assets are distributed according to my wishes in the event of my death.
Talin H.
You basically just answered your question. You should review and update your will whenever a major life event happens that might influence how your assets are distributed in the will. The rule of thumb is the addition or subtraction of a family member, or addition, or subtraction of a major asset like a home purchase.

What is a will, and why is it important to have one?
I am a married adult with two children and I am looking to secure my family's future. I am concerned about what will happen to my assets and my family if something were to happen to me. I want to make sure that my wishes are respected and that my family is taken care of, so I am looking to learn more about wills and how they can help me.
Diane D.
A will allows you to select the persons who you want to receive what you own when you die. Without a will, the court may step in and distribute your assets according to your state's law. With a will, you control what happens with your property, and you can leave specific property to specific persons, and you can appoint specific persons to manage and handle distributing your property. Having a Will can save your heirs significant expense during probate and prevent feuding among them.

Can I designate a non-family member as the executor of my will?
I am in the process of creating my will and estate plan, and I am considering designating a close friend as the executor instead of a family member. My family dynamics are complicated, and I do not have a strong relationship with any of my relatives. I trust my friend's judgment and organizational skills, and I believe they would be better suited to handle the responsibilities of executing my will. Can I legally appoint a non-family member as the executor, and what factors should I consider when making this decision?
Megan W.
Yes, you can appoint anyone you want as your executor of the Will.

Employment Contract

What's vacation time in an employment contract?
I recently accepted a new job and I was provided an employment contract to review. In the contract, there is a section about vacation time, but it is not very clear. I'm trying to understand what vacation time is included in the contract and what the expectations are for taking time off. I want to make sure I have a clear understanding of my rights and responsibilities regarding vacation time before I sign the contract.
Diane D.
You can create your own will. However, having an attorney draft it for you will ensure that your wishes are carried out in all circumstances. Doing it yourself without having any experience may cause many problems after your demise.
Quick, user friendly and one of the better ways I've come across to get ahold of lawyers willing to take new clients.
