Our boat is a flow through asset to us when we closed our Delaware LLC about 4 years ago. We sold the boat to ourselves at a one dollar amount registering and documenting it to us in our names...the corporation closing. The boat would possibly sell for 150k to 18k in today’s market. We did pay Florida state sales tax years ago and this was recognized on flow through to us. What if anything will we owe if it’s a capital gain? Thank you.
We plan to sell the boat in a month or two in Florida. We are retired with retirement incomes of less than 40k per year and we live in Florida. Thank you.

How. much in value can I give as a gift? I am a resident of Florida?
My son wants to gift stock and wants to know how much in value he can gift.
Diane D.
Your son should be doing the asking because by you asking, you are illegally practicing law. However, generally you are not required to file a gift tax return unless the total gifts to a recipient exceed the annual gift tax exclusion for that calendar year., which for Florida is $15,000.

What is sales tax nexus?
I am considering an acquisition of an e-commerce company and have read about internet taxes and 'sales tax nexus'.
Jane C.
Sales tax nexus is the minimum contacts that a seller has with a state that would require it to register to do business within the state and file sales tax returns. Examples of activities that may create sales tax nexus include having a warehouse in the state and physical delivery of goods into the state. Can a nonprofit organization with a pending 501(c)(3) application receive tax-deductible donations?
I am part of a nonprofit organization that has submitted a 501(c)(3) application to the IRS, but we are still awaiting approval. In the meantime, we have been receiving donations from individuals and corporations who want to support our cause. We would like to know if these donors can claim tax deductions for their contributions, considering that our application is still pending and we have not yet obtained official tax-exempt status.
Damien B.
Hello! Contributions are not tax deductible now but will be if your application is approved. You must inform the donors that the application is pending and that contributions are not tax-deductible at this time. After the application is approved, you must request retroactive tax deductibility. If you have additional questions, let me know. Best regards.

Acceptable Use Policy
Florida
Why do I need an acceptable use policy?
I am being told I need an Acceptable Use Policy for our company. I want to understand why I need one.

A well written AUP will provide your employees, staff, and users with clear guidelines regarding what they can use company resources for and what is inappropriate. There may be conduct that blatantly crosses the line, such as using the company logistics software to break the law, but an AUP will also address those circumstances that are less clear, such as using internal messaging to ask a co-worker out on a date or to pass along inappropriate comments. It should also address potential security and data privacy breaches that may result from using poor oversight of company databases, introducing insecure devices to the network, or visiting potentially compromised websites and responding to phishing emails.
