Incentive Bonus Agreement: Definition, Terms, Example

What is an Incentive Bonus Agreement?

An incentive bonus agreement is a contract between an employer and employee that details information about a cash bonus offered as an incentive. For example, if a company wanted to offer a cash bonus to sales reps who meet a certain quota, the exact terms and conditions of the bonus would be included in the agreement. Another important aspect of an incentive bonus agreement involves what will happen if employees commit fraud or try to cheat the system. This protects employers from unscrupulous activities that could cost them money.

The incentive bonus agreement also includes basic details about what the incentive bonus is, how long it runs for, and how payments will be made.
