How to return loan that was deposited into my account without my consent?

I applied for a loan from a mortgage company in [DATE]. The mortgage started out with $*****. and I would receive $*****; then they brought the money for me down to $*****, then down to $*****, then lastly $*****. I closed with the $*****, then when they brought it down to $*****, I told them I would not sign anything because I would be paying them too much closing cost. They put the money into my account without my agreeing to the $*****. How do I get it back to them.

Hello! My name is Dolan and thank you so much for contacting me! I just had a few quick questions for you: I'm so sorry to hear about what happened. Do you know if they have a main mailing address? Is it in the USA?

They are in Miami. I think it is an office building. The loan company has a building office. Do you need their information?

Ok got it! So I don't know their information, but I was just gathering some info so I can make some suggestions to you. So what I would do is contact that company by mail or email if you can. You should tell them in writing (preferably by certified mail) that you never agreed to accept the $***** loan amount and want to return the funds. Be SUPER clear that you did not consent to this and that they deposited the money into your account without your approval. If you have any emails, texts, or other communication that show you refused to sign off on this lower amount, include copies in your message. Next, DO NOT touch the money. Keep it in your account and don’t spend any of it. If the mortgage company realizes their mistake and asks for it back, you want to be in a position to return it without any issues. You don’t want them claiming that you accepted the loan by using the funds. Then, if they don’t respond or try to claim you have to keep the loan, escalate the situation. You can file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau here - https://www.consumerfinance.gov/about-us/blog/so-how-do-i-submit-a-complaint/ This agency handles issues like this and can put pressure on the mortgage company to fix their mistake. You can even contact the state. You can file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office by clicking here -  https://www.myfloridalegal.com/how-to-contact-us/file-a-complaint Mortgage companies don’t like dealing with regulatory complaints or legal issues, so once they see you’re serious, they’ll likely find a way to reverse the deposit.
