"Ricardo was exceptionally attentive and detail-oriented while drafting our unconventional prenuptial agreement. Despite an extremely tight timeline, he delivered it right in time without compromising quality. He didn't simply drag and drop information in a template like our previous attorney did – instead, he wrote a custom agreement based on our goals. He took the time to truly listen to our needs and asked thoughtful, incisive follow-up questions that led to important revisions we had not previously anticipated, but were deeply grateful he identified. His rate was very reasonable, and he demonstrated outstanding integrity in transparently and accurately documenting his billable hours. We are sincerely grateful for his guidance during a stressful and emotionally charged time, and for ensuring we had a thoroughly drafted, legally sound, and high-quality agreement in place before our wedding. We can't recommend him enough!"

I’m a Texas-based business attorney focused on helping companies—from early-stage startups to established enterprises—navigate their legal needs with clarity and confidence. My practice centers on contracts, corporate governance, and international business matters. Whether you're forming a new company, reviewing a commercial agreement, or expanding into new markets, I bring practical, business-minded legal guidance tailored to your goals. Clients appreciate that I don’t just “paper” deals—I help them understand what they’re signing and protect their long-term interests. I believe in clear communication, fair flat fees, and efficient turnarounds, especially when time is money. In addition to domestic clients, I work with a range of foreign individuals and companies doing business in the U.S., and regularly assist with cross-border transactions, regulatory issues, and contract negotiation. If you’re looking for an attorney who values relationships, communicates clearly, and knows how to get deals done—I’d be glad to connect.

Non payment
I worked for a start up with a promised to pay a specified amount for my services backed by emails and documentation. The company is growing with 8 + employees but communication on when I will be paid has basically stopped. They now have 8 plus employees. Suggestions on how to get payment? I am in Washington State company is in Virginia
Donya G.
My suggestion is to request an employment agreement that outlines your role, responsibility and payment. If that doesn't work, draft your own agreement and ask them to sign your document. Last resort, hire a lawyer to talk to them about your missing payment. All the best. If you need additional resource, you can find me on the Contracts Counsel website. Donya Gordon

Employment Contract
Georgia
I was recently let go after complaining about discrimination and targeted. I was termed with a severance package. I want to know if I can renegotiate the severance.
Can I get more on my severance since I was let go after complaining about discrimination to my employer?
Donya G.
That sounds like it would depend on the reasons you were given for being let go. Did you document your grievances in an email or where they just done by word of mouth? You should consult with a GA attorney that specializes in employment law to assit. All the best Donya Gordon

Workplace Policies

Can my employer legally implement a policy that requires employees to work overtime without additional compensation?
I have been working for a small tech startup for the past year, and recently my employer announced a new policy stating that all employees are required to work a minimum of 10 hours of overtime each week without any additional compensation. This policy was implemented without any prior notice or agreement from the employees, and it has caused significant disruption to our work-life balance. I am concerned about the legality of this policy and whether my employer has the right to impose such requirements without providing any extra compensation.
Danny J.
I understand your concern about this new overtime policy. This situation raises significant legal questions under federal labor laws, particularly the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Under the FLSA, non-exempt employees must receive overtime pay at a rate of not less than 1.5 times their regular rate for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek. However, the classification of employees as exempt or non-exempt is complex and depends on various factors, including job duties and salary level. The Department of Labor (DOL) is the federal agency responsible for enforcing the FLSA. They investigate wage and hour violations and can take action against employers who violate these laws. Key points to consider: 1. Your exempt/non-exempt status 2. The specific terms of your employment agreement 3. Any state laws that may provide additional protections (Most states follow the federal 40-hour workweek threshold for overtime but a few have higher weekly thresholds.) The legality of your employer's policy depends on these and other factors. Given the complexity of labor laws and the potential for significant legal implications, it would be prudent to have a thorough review of your specific situation. As an experienced employment law attorney, I could: 1. Assess your employment classification 2. Review your company's policies and your employment agreement 3. Advise on the legality of the new overtime policy 4. Guide you on potential next steps, including how to address this with your employer or file a complaint with the DOL if necessary Would you like to discuss your situation in more detail to ensure your rights are protected and explore the best course of action?
Quick, user friendly and one of the better ways I've come across to get ahold of lawyers willing to take new clients.
