I remember vividly cracking open that big red book and staring at the pages not having the faintest idea what I was actually reading. Despite those initial scary moments, I grew to love property law. My obsession with real estate law was solidified when I was working in Virginia at a law firm outside DC. I ran the settlement (escrow) department and learned the ins and outs of transactions and the unique needs of the parties. My husband and I bought our first home in Virginia in 2012 and despite being an attorney, there was so much we didn’t know, especially when it came to our HOA and our mortgage. Our real estate agent was a wonderful resource for finding our home and negotiating some of the key terms, but there was something missing in the process. I’ve spent the last 10 years helping those who were in the same situation we were in better understand the process.

I have been a successful California real estate attorney for over 30 years. I am unique as I am a real estate lawyer, broker, and developer who has experience with every aspect of real estate. I have managed three real estate platforms, including a national real estate development firm, a real estate family office with over $1 billion of commercial real estate under management, and serving as the Chief Real Estate Officer for Orange County, CA. I have managed the purchase and sale of over 125 commercial and residential properties, including the negotiation of purchase and sale agreements and the handling of due diligence, financing, and closing matters. I have negotiated over 225 commercial and residential real estate leases. I have managed the ground-up development of over 70 real estate projects. Most importantly, I am client-centric attorney who enjoys counseling clients on real estate matters. My role is to make sure my client's questions are answered, transaction issues are discussed and resolved, and my client's goals are successfully met.

I focus my practice on startups and small to mid-size businesses, because they have unique needs that mid-size and large law firms aren't well-equipped to service. In addition to practicing law, I have started and run other businesses, and have an MBA in marketing from Indiana University. I combine my business experience with my legal expertise, to provide practical advice to my clients. I graduated from Yale University magna cum laude, served as a Fulbright Scholar in Italy and attended UC Berkeley School of Law. In 2023, I was named a "Legal Visionary" by the Los Angeles Times. I have broad experience in corporate transactions and in serving as outside general counsel to clients. I started my legal career in Silicon Valley and Hong Kong working on large equity and debt financings and matters for private wealth clients. After returning home to Los Angeles, I advised startup companies with formations, acquisitions and day-to-day matters such as sales contracts and licensing. More recently, I have focused on data, IT and SaaS contracts for both providers and customers. My clients include NASDAQ-listed companies, a top ranked children’s hospital and local startups.

With nearly 20 years’ experience as a seasoned commercial real estate attorney, I am highly proficient in property acquisitions, financing, sales and transfers (including renewable energy and telecommunications projects), commercial lease agreements (office, industrial, retail, and hospitality), construction and property management contracts, due diligence matters, title and survey analysis, strategic litigation oversight, and corporate and regulatory compliance (operating agreements, bylaws, shareholder agreements, NDAs, and indemnity agreements).
