Review & redline: California B2B automation-services agreement + CCPA, AI & auto-renewal addenda
"Heather reviewed and redlined the client services agreement for my automation consultancy, including a CCPA service-provider addendum and an AI systems addendum, plus California auto-renewal requirements.
Two things stood out. When I pushed back on her redline and reworked a clause myself, she engaged with the reasoning rather than defending her own draft, and where I had spotted a real conflict between an indemnity provision and a liability cap she confirmed it and told me exactly how to fix it. Second, she did not stop at the paperwork. She flagged that the contract allocation was helpful but that an operational pre-launch check would be the stronger protection, which is the kind of thing you only get from someone thinking about whether you actually stay out of trouble rather than whether the document is defensible.
Clear, specific, and worth it."

Review Conract and LOI for Startup
"Heather was thorough in reviewing my employment agreement and made the recommendations as requested. However, there seems to have been a misunderstanding somehow... The option I selected was "Review and Feedback"because I didn't need an agreement write-up. I did explain the details of service needed which included revision and recommendations - which she did. But her bid offer was reviewing agreement, provide recommendations snd one additional round of review thereafter. After my employer made the recommended changes, I sent Heather the updated document for review as per her bid but because the option I selected was "Review + Feedback" and agreed to meet my capped budget of $50 less of her bid, she failed to advise she wouldn't honor the additional round of review or answer a question I had, if the responses from my employer should be in the agreement or if the information in the email would still be binding. Unless I paid an additional bid fee, she couldn't proceed with 'additional work"."

"I would not recommend this attorney based on my experience.
One of the reasons I hired her was because her engagement terms specifically reassured clients not to worry if the transaction involved another state. Based on that language, I reasonably believed any coordination required for an out-of-state matter was contemplated as part of the representation.
After I retained her and paid for the opinion letter, I was then told I needed to pay an additional fee for “Texas attorney outreach” simply to locate and coordinate with Texas counsel, along with proposed rush and weekend fees. Those charges came as a surprise because they were inconsistent with my understanding of the engagement terms.
The experience felt like a series of unexpected add-on fees rather than transparent pricing. If you’re considering hiring this attorney, I strongly recommend getting a written, itemized explanation of exactly what is included in the quoted fee, what services are excluded, and every circumstance that could trigger additional charges before you move forward.
Fee transparency and setting clear expectations are essential, and unfortunately that was not my experience."
Hi Roger Chan - We are sorry you were dissatisfied, but the review does not fully describe the scope of the engagement or the sequence of events. You retained us to prepare an attorney opinion letter for the transaction, and that letter was prepared and delivered to you exactly as requested and within the limited time frame you demanded.
After delivery, you asked us to locate and coordinate with a Texas-licensed attorney who might independently review the transaction and provide a Texas-law opinion or signature. That was a separate request from the original opinion-letter engagement. It required additional time to identify potential local counsel, conduct outreach, provide transaction background, coordinate responses, and manage a possible referral—and no Texas attorney’s participation or signature could be guaranteed.
Before undertaking that additional work, we clearly explained the proposed coordination fee and that any Texas attorney could charge a separate fee for independent review or an opinion. No Texas-counsel outreach or coordination was performed, and no additional fee was charged, nor would any have been charged without prior notice and authorization.
We work to be transparent about the services included in each engagement and provide pricing for any additional work requested outside the original scope.

Demand Letter to Amazon — Federal CITES/Lacey Act Violation by Competitor Seller
"1. Was not able to follow simple directions. From the first message, I provided clear recipient details and she ended up sending it to the wrong recipient with a typo which luckily I noticed.
2. The certified letter she sent (which cost me hundreds of dollars) has not been delivered and appears to be lost by USPS. Her response was "I do not work for USPS" rather than propose a soution such as the cost to re-mail the letter."
Alex Balmaseda - This review mischaracterizes both the work performed and the scope of the engagement. I completed the agreed assignment by preparing the letter and sending it. As for USPS, I do not control postal operations, delivery timelines, or tracking outcomes once a properly prepared letter is accepted by the carrier. The letter was not damaged when I handed it over to USPS, and the unfounded / unsubstantiated claim (as of the writing of your review) that USPS appears to have mishandled delivery does not mean the legal work was deficient in any way. It is not reasonable to hold counsel responsible for postal errors that occur after mailing, particularly where the agreed legal services were fully performed.

Commercial Lease Renegotiation
"I hired Heather for limited-scope commercial lease counsel during a time-sensitive landlord dispute where every day mattered for my business.
Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing—not because of legal knowledge, but because of communication, transparency, and client care.
As a first-time small business owner navigating a complex lease dispute, I was relying heavily on clear guidance around process, scope, deadlines, and next steps. Instead, communication often felt reactive, unclear, and at times condescending rather than collaborative.
After paying the full $799 upfront, I moved forward based on the understanding that the demand letter was the recommended immediate next step to preserve leverage. There was no clear communication that additional authorization was required before the letter would actually be sent, nor was there timely clarification when I followed up. In a time-sensitive legal matter, assumptions like that matter.
As the engagement progressed, additional fees for basic follow-up questions, mailing options, and clarification around next steps continued to surface in ways that felt piecemeal rather than transparent from the beginning.
What was most disappointing was the tone of certain communications. Comparing a legal engagement involving an actively delayed commercial lease, financial pressure, and business risk to “buying milk and eggs at the grocery store” felt dismissive and lacking empathy for the seriousness of the situation.
Attorneys absolutely deserve to be compensated for their expertise, and I fully respect scope boundaries. My concern was not being charged for additional work—it was the lack of proactive clarity, the hands-off approach in a highly sensitive matter, and communication that at times felt more transactional than advisory.
If you are a sophisticated client who already understands legal workflows, billing boundaries, and exactly what to ask for, this may not be an issue. But if you are a first-time entrepreneur navigating a high-stakes legal matter and need strategic guidance, proactive communication, and a sense of partnership, this was not my experience. Maybe I asked too many questions—but when your business, lease rights, and livelihood are on the line, I’d rather be the client asking “too many” than the one learning what I should have asked after it’s too late."
Hi Mon'Tee Sorrells / Perfect Posture LLC
To clarify, you retained me for a limited-scope engagement, and the scope of work was provided to you at the outset. The services included in that engagement were completed consistent with that scope. When you later requested additional work beyond the agreed scope, I explained that those additional services would require separate authorization and additional fees before I could proceed.
At that point, rather than moving forward under an expanded engagement, you immediately posted this review. For that reason, I do not believe this review fairly reflects what occurred.
I take communication and client service seriously, and I strive to be clear about the difference between work included in a limited-scope matter and additional legal services that require further engagement. Legal matters can be stressful, especially when they are time-sensitive, but it would have been inappropriate for me to perform legal work outside the agreed scope without authorization.
I wish you the best in resolving your matter.
