Consideration Agreement: Definition, Example
Jump to Section
What is a Consideration Agreement?
A consideration agreement is a contract between parties that guarantees that the contract is mutually beneficial, which makes it legally enforcable. This is important because it is unlawful for a contract to only benefit one person. Without consideration, the contract can't be used to support claims in court and renders the agreement useless.
The purpose of the consideration agreement is to protect the interests of all parties. It ensures that individuals or companies can't be tricked into signing something that purposefully puts them at a disadvantage. If such an agreement is signed, the lack of consideration alone can allow disadvantaged parties to end the agreeement without consequence.
