Horse Boarding Agreement: Definition, Terms, Example
Jump to Section
What is a Horse Boarding Agreement?
A horse boarding agreement is a contract between a horse boarder and a client that sets the terms and conditions of boarding a horse at the business. The contract states who the boarder and client are, what their roles and responsibilities are under the contract, and how long the boarding term is. It also determines the fees that will be paid for the boarding services and when the payment is due. Under the contract, boarders take on obligations that are described within, as well.
The purpose of the horse boarding agreement is to legally require both parties to follow the rules set forth within.
What's Included in a Horse Boarding Agreement?
A typical Horse Boarding Agreement should include the following elements:
- Identification of the Parties: The agreement should clearly identify the horse owner and the horse boarding facility, including their full names, addresses, and other relevant information.
- Identification of the Horse: The agreement should clearly identify the horse, including the horse's name, breed, age, and any other relevant information.
- Term of the Agreement: The agreement should specify the start and end dates of the horse boarding arrangement, and any options for renewal.
- Care and Boarding of the Horse: The agreement should specify the terms and conditions for the care and boarding of the horse, including feeding, exercise, and veterinary care. The agreement should also specify the responsibilities of the horse owner and the horse boarding facility.
- Payment and Fees: The agreement should specify the amount of payment to be made by the horse owner, the due date, and the method of payment. The agreement should also specify any additional fees, such as fees for veterinary care or special services.
- Termination and Return of the Horse: The agreement should specify the circumstances under which the agreement can be terminated, and the process for returning the horse to the horse owner.
- Liability and Insurance: The agreement should specify the liability of the horse boarding facility for damages to the horse, and the requirement for horse insurance.
- Governing Law: The agreement should specify the governing law that will be used to interpret and enforce the terms of the agreement.
- Signatures: The agreement should be signed by both the horse owner and the horse boarding facility to indicate their agreement to the terms and conditions outlined in the document.
It is important to note that the specific provisions of a Horse Boarding Agreement will vary depending on the jurisdiction and the specific needs and circumstances of the parties involved. It is always recommended to seek the advice of a qualified attorney to ensure that the agreement meets the legal requirements and protects the interests of both the horse owner and the horse.
