Hello ******! Thanks for coming to the site. My name is Dolan. If I may clarify - is this a judgment lien? A mechanic's lien?

How do I authenticate a lien to ensure it is legally enforceable?

I think judgment.

Ok thanks! Just a few more questions. How did you catch wind of this lien? Are you trying to refinance your home? Were you sent paperwork? This will help me determine what you do next.

No, this actually develope from my claim with the Va. When I found out from a BVA judge and my attorney I had missing or incomplete records in my medical file I began a records search. After doing a records search in Washington, where I previously lived my home foreclosure came up with judgments against me. I don't believe any of the judgments relates to an entitlement in the acquistion of my home.

Oh yes, I am refinancing a home in Washington now but it has nothing to with my home that was acquired earlier in Washington.

Got it. So there are a few things to consider: 1. Generally, a lien is a right to payment upon the sale of the home before the proceeds come to the owner(s). This means that when the home is sold, whenever it is sold, then the creditor gets their cut before the rest goes to whoever owns the property at the time. 2. You can't have a lien against you personally. 3. You can have JUDGEMENTS against you. Judgments are basically proof that you lost a legal case. So what do you do? 1. You can check your credit report. Go to freecreditreport.com, and you can find 2. Visit or contact the clerk’s office in the county where you reside or where the judgment might have been filed. Provide your name and any relevant details, as many judgments are public records and searchable by name. 3. Many courts have online databases where you can search for judgments. Use your name, case number (if you know it), or other identifying details. Be aware that these databases often have a fee for detailed searches or copies of documents. 4. If you are unsure where the judgment might have been filed, you can hire a professional service to conduct a comprehensive search across multiple jurisdictions. 5. If you know who the creditor is, you can contact them or their attorney to inquire about any judgments they may have obtained against you. Does that help clarify things? I want to make sure I didn’t leave anything out.
