Can a landlord change the terms of a rental lease agreement without the tenant's consent?
I recently signed a rental lease agreement for an apartment, which clearly outlined the terms and conditions of the tenancy. However, my landlord has informed me that they intend to make changes to the lease agreement, specifically regarding an increase in rent and modifications to the maintenance responsibilities. I am concerned about the legality of these changes and whether a landlord can unilaterally alter the terms of a rental lease agreement without obtaining the tenant's consent.

I think you need to post this as a CA question, not as a WA question. However, your first step is checking government and HOA rules, if any and make sure that this is allowed. Can a landlord increase the rent during the term of a residential lease?
I recently signed a residential lease for a two-year term, and I'm concerned about the possibility of my landlord increasing the rent during this period. I have heard conflicting information from friends and online sources, so I am seeking clarification on whether a landlord has the right to raise the rent during the term of a lease. I want to understand my rights as a tenant and whether there are any legal protections in place to prevent such a rent increase.

Under the Washington Residential Landlord Tenant Law, a landlord may not change the terms of a lease during the lease, at least not on his or her own (sometimes landlords and tenants negotiate a change). In addition, a lease is a type of contract, and one party to a contract cannot change a contract on their own. Can my landlord evict me if I have been unable to pay rent due to financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic?
I am currently facing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has resulted in a significant reduction in my income. As a result, I have been unable to pay my rent for the past few months. I recently received an eviction notice from my landlord, and I am unsure of my rights and options in this situation. Can my landlord legally evict me during this time, considering the circumstances?

Good morning, Your landlord cannot evict you. They can, however, provide you with a notice to vacate, Which presumably is what they have given. At the conclusion of the . Assigned for the notice, There may be a summons for eviction and a court date assigned. At that point, you will then go to court and be able to explain your circumstances and only the court can grant you an extension or evict you. If the court chooses to evict you, they will give you a 36 to 48 hour time Period to vacate. However, the court will consider all of your circumstances, and I would urge you to present your medical condition as one of your mitigating factors.

What's an addendum in a rental agreement?
I am a renter who recently signed a rental agreement for an apartment. I was provided with a copy of the agreement, but it included an addendum that I was not given an opportunity to review before signing. I am concerned that the addendum may contain terms that I was not aware of and would like to know what an addendum in a rental agreement is in order to understand my rights and obligations under the agreement.

An addendum to a rental agreement is the same as any other terms and condition that is part of the rental agreement itself. An addendum is binding. If you are concerned about the terms in the addendum, especially since you were not given an opportunity to read the addendum in advance, you should contact the landlord in writing to express your concerns, and note that you were not given the opportunity to read the addendum in advance and do not consider the addendum part of your rental agreement.
