What is a Judgment Lien?
Note that a judgment lien is placed on a debtor's personal or real property by a court ruling in order to secure the timely payment of a debt by the debtor. Judgment liens are usually the result of civil lawsuits.
If you win a judgment lien against a person who owns a property, you will not necessarily get the property; however, you will become legally entitled to funds that arise from the sale of that property after the mortgage loan is paid.
