What is Oversubscription?
Oversubscription occurs when the amount of shares a company offers to the public is not sufficient to provide a share for all the shareholders that wish to purchase them. In simpler terms, oversubscription happens when the demand for shares exceeds the supply. Oversubscription does not always guarantee a company’s success, since projected success must happen in order for shares to remain in high demand.
