In 2024, a business in New Jersey sought assistance in drafting a content license agreement. The client, engaged in the publishing industry, needed legal protection for a project involving the creation of a manuscript that captured their family’s ancestry and heritage. Unlike typical ghostwriting contracts, the client wanted to maintain the right to publish sections of the work, necessitating a tailored licensing agreement to protect their intellectual property as they worked with a freelancer. As a result, the client received eight proposals from licensed lawyers, with flat fee bids ranging from $699 to $1,395, all submitted to meet the client's deadline of over a week.
