What is a Municipal Lease?
A municipal lease is a legal document that allows government entities to make payments on equipment or facilities needed without waiting for voter approval. The contract includes details about which government entity is authorized to make the payments, what equipment or facilities are being procured, and how much money is approved to be spent doing it.
The purpose of the municipal lease is to provide government entities with a legal avenue to obtain items needed, especially when the procurement of them is time-sensitive and would cause undue harm if a delay for voting was needed.
