What is an Agreement To Rent Or Lease?
An agreement to rent or lease is a contract between a land or property owner and another individual that wishes to use their belongings for a temporary period. The contract details who each party is, what is being rented or leased, and for how long. It also outlines what rental or lease payments will be, when they are due, and what forms of payment are accepted. Additionally, details regarding other obligations that both parties must fulfill is also included.
The purpose of the agreement to rent or lease is to provide vital structure to the relationship between a land or property owner and a lessee. It also provides vital documentation needed to support legal claims, should one arise.

I absolutely love helping my clients buy their first home, sell their starters, upgrade to their next big adventure, or transition to their next phase of life. The confidence my clients have going into a transaction and through the whole process is one of the most rewarding aspects of practicing this type of law. My very first class in law school was property law, and let me tell you, this was like nothing I’d ever experienced. I remember vividly cracking open that big red book and staring at the pages not having the faintest idea what I was actually reading. Despite those initial scary moments, I grew to love property law. My obsession with real estate law was solidified when I was working in Virginia at a law firm outside DC. I ran the settlement (escrow) department and learned the ins and outs of transactions and the unique needs of the parties. My husband and I bought our first home in Virginia in 2012 and despite being an attorney, there was so much we didn’t know, especially when it came to our HOA and our mortgage. Our real estate agent was a wonderful resource for finding our home and negotiating some of the key terms, but there was something missing in the process. I’ve spent the last 10 years helping those who were in the same situation we were in better understand the process.
"Rebecca you were awesome I appreciate you working with me and helping me get this done. I look forward to working with you in the future."

Is new owner supposed to honor lease from previous owner in Illinois
New owner says he won't honor lease agreement from previous owner and is requesting to increase monthly rent.
Darryl S.
It would be advisable to have an attorney review your lease to see if that lease is terminated by sale of the property. You may also want to see the Purchase Agreement for the property to clarify if the buyer of the building has an obligation to continue honoring the lease.

what is the best method when it comes to contracts if you plan to do property listing for travelers is there a vast difference between a regular rental contract?
Currently looking into overseeing my parent's rental property and want to make sure we're doing the right process in terms of contracts when it comes to renting out a property whether it is a long-term or short-term.
Darryl S.
Not a VAST difference, but not the same either. You should have a lawyer create an AirBNB or short term rental type agreement and you should not use a standard lease agreement. As examples, the short term agreement might cover check in and out policies, prohibit big parties, etc. and more.

Can I have my residence on the business property I rent where I create and sell products from?
I'm new to this field.

We would want to review the restrictions in the lease to be sure of the answer to this question.
Quick, user friendly and one of the better ways I've come across to get ahold of lawyers willing to take new clients.
