What is In Kind Distribution?
An in-kind distribution is a financial instrument used to pay investors that does not involve the handlings of cash. This can consist of payment in non-cash forms, such as securities (preferred stocks, notes, etc.) or properties. It can also refer to the transfer of assets from one person to another. In-Kind distributions are unique because unlike some cash distributions, they can provide extra benefits, such as reduced tax liability, which can be valuable to stockholders who want to maximize their return on an investment.
