What is an Internal Rate of Return?
An internal rate of return defines how quickly an investment is likely to break even. It is often used by financial analysts to determine to evaluate investments and is always calculated digitally, usually via an Excel document or with a special financial calculator. The higher the internal rate of return on an investment is, the more likely it is to be profitable for investors.
Examples of Internal Rate of Return
Some key concepts of internal rate of return considerations include:
- Example 1. The Internal Rate of Return is not the exact dollar value of the project or investment.
- Example 2. The Internal Rate of Return tends to be the best route to take when trying to project and compare projected annual rates over time.

Melanie C.
Melanie Cunningham specializes in helping entrepreneurs remain creative and expansive by establishing the foundation of their business and protecting and maximizing their intellectual property. It’s her belief that entrepreneurs and micro and small business owners play a critical role in our communities, which propelled Melanie to return to private practice after more than a decade working for global financial institutions. Melanie’s practice is dedicated to delivering excellent legal support and protection to this vital, but an often underserved, community. Contracts Counsel was incredibly helpful and easy to use. I submitted a project for a lawyer's help within a day I had received over 6 proposals from qualified lawyers. I submitted a bid that works best for my business and we went forward with the project.
View Trustpilot ReviewI never knew how difficult it was to obtain representation or a lawyer, and ContractsCounsel was EXACTLY the type of service I was hoping for when I was in a pinch. Working with their service was efficient, effective and made me feel in control. Thank you so much and should I ever need attorney services down the road, I'll certainly be a repeat customer.
View Trustpilot ReviewI got 5 bids within 24h of posting my project. I choose the person who provided the most detailed and relevant intro letter, highlighting their experience relevant to my project. I am very satisfied with the outcome and quality of the two agreements that were produced, they actually far exceed my expectations.
