What is Initial Public Offering?
An initial public offering occurs when a private corporation first offers new stock to public, which transforms the corporation into a publicly traded company. This process is beneficial because it allows companies to gain access to more capital by raising funds from public investors. Private corporations typically work with investment banks to bring their shares public.
