What is a memory footprint?
We can define memory footprint as the amount of memory (or RAM) software references or uses when running. Note that various program instructions can take up or consume memory. Also, the program reserves more memory or RAM for data.
A larger program has a larger memory footprint than a smaller one. An application's or program’s memory footprint is often proportionate to the sizes and number of shared libraries. On the other hand, static libraries, static data areas, and executable programs contribute to a fixed portion.
