Overview of Florida Business Sales & Use Tax
Florida business sales and use tax is levied on goods and services sold. Sales tax is collected at the point of purchase from customers. However, consumers may also owe a use tax when purchasing from out-of-state or online.
Business Sales & Use Tax Rates
The business sales and use tax rate in Florida is currently six percent. Exceptions include:
- Four percent on amusement machines
- 5 percent on commercial property leases
- 95 percent on electricity
LLC
Florida’s business sales and use tax rate is not owed by LLCs since owners file personal income taxes.
S-Corp
Florida’s business sales and use tax rate for S-Corps is not owed by LLCs since owners file personal income taxes.
C-Corp
Florida’s business sales and use tax rate for C-Corps is six percent.
Partnerships
Florida’s business sales and use tax rate for partnerships is six percent.
Sole Proprietorships
Florida’s business sales and use tax rate for sole-proprietorships is six percent.

Federal vs. Florida
Federal vs. Florida business sales and use tax is treated differently. The IRS doesn’t impose a federal tax and allows Florida to levy state tax as it sees fit.
